We are recruiting Practice Health Champions We would like to invite you to work with us as a volunteer Practice Health Champion! Champions use their knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to improve the health of people in OUR practice. We need enthusiastic people to help organise and get involved with activities for patients. Put “Champions” in the subject line and send an email to email@example.com if you would like to get involved.
We are very pleased to welcome our Practice Health Champions to our team…
Practice Health Champions are our patients who voluntarily give their time to work with the staff to find new ways to improve the services that we offer, and to help to meet the health needs of patients and the wider community.
In addition to them using their life experiences, Practice Champions also use their passion and understanding of the local community to enrich decision making in GP practices through the development of a greater understanding of local need.
Champions develop responses to issues that they feel passionate about and that are a priority to their practice and support health and wellbeing.
Practice Health Champions are supported to work with surgery staff as peers, to improve services and develop opportunities.
Champions are trained to listen to people and share information, not to give advice or recommendations.
The work of the Practice Champion varies, depending on their interests, experience, the needs of the practice and local community health priorities.
They differ from the PPG (Patient Participation Group) which generally fulfils an advisory or consultative role, whereas champions work alongside staff to develop new ways of meeting the needs of patients.
